How Much Do You Need for Retirement

How Much Do You Need for Retirement

With an increasing number of people scheduled to begin retirement in the next few years, it is important to begin thinking about the subject. Even if you’re not near the age of retirement yet, it’s a good idea to begin thinking about how you plan to fund your retirement as soon as possible. The sooner you begin to plan for retirement the more you can be sure your retirement won’t be plagued by money issues.

So, how much money do you need for retirement? A lot of that answer, of course, depends on what plans you have for retirement. If you plan to travel, want to purchase a RV or you have similar specific plans, you will naturally need more money in order to fund your retirement. Above and beyond those expenses; however, it is important to think about your day to day essential needs.

For example, consider whether you will still owe any debt payments when you choose to retire. Of course, many of use would like to think that we’ll be out of debt by then but in reality you may still owe on a vehicle or credit card or even a house. Be sure to calculate those costs into the amount you need for retirement.

You’ll also need enough money to cover such costs as utilities, auto and home insurance, groceries and other miscellaneous expenses we all must pay on a month to month basis.

Healthcare will be an extremely important aspect of your retirement. Naturally, as we grow older our healthcare needs increase and that means spending more money. If you fail to fund your retirement in a sufficient manner, even one serious health problem could wipe out your retirement fund and you might find yourself facing the rest of your retirement with serious money problems. Just for your healthcare costs alone it’s a good idea to plan on budgeting at least $15,000 per year for every year of your retirement.

You also need to consider whether there will be expenses when you first retire that you’ll still need to cover such as support for aging parents (with life expectancy figures today, it’s definitely a possibility) as well as college education expenses for kids.

In addition, don’t forget miscellaneous costs which may pop up that we tend to forget. These costs include home repair costs, such as replacing a roof, purchasing another vehicle, etc.

After adding up all of the costs you’ll need to cover during retirement, don’t forget to take into consideration the effects of inflation. Figure on costs today rising an average of about 4% a year for every year you have left until retirement and then some.

Finally, don’t forget to give serious thought to how long you may need to fund your retirement. Quite surprisingly, many people tend to underestimate how long they’ll live and as a result run out of money. Don’t let that happen to you. The best rule of thumb is to assume you’ll live to at least age 90 and calculate for that.

Insurance is a must in so many areas of life. Without it you can end up spending much more money or even losing a ton of cash or stability. Each type of insurance will enable you to have protection when you need it the most. It is not smart to go without it.

When looking to purchase insurance, make sure that you are the one staying in control. Know what you want beforehand and how much you are willing to pay to get it. Also only give out information to companies you are truly interested in, as most are just looking to get your name/information to sell to other companies. Make sure that you choose when you want to talk to an agent and they don’t choose you first.

You should consider purchasing renter’s insurance for your apartment. You certainly own valuables and other personal possessions, which would need to be replaced at your own expense if anything should happen to them. In this event, you should take out a personal property policy, which will cover your possessions and valuables.

Get endorsements for your valuables. For example, you will want to take your valuable jewelry to a jeweler and have an appraisal done on it. You then must provide your insurance company with that appraisal. This will prove that you indeed did have the item in question and how much it was worth so you can be paid for the actual value of the item.

After paying your first insurance premium for a new policy, ensure that you receive a copy of the policy in the mail. This lets you know that the agent passed your premium along to the company and that you are covered. If you haven’t received a written copy of your policy within 60 days, contact both the agent and the insurance company.

Direct Deposit Cash Advances For Recipients Of Private Pensions

Direct Deposit Cash Advances For Recipients Of Private Pensions

A direct deposit cash advance is a quick and easy way for retirees who receive private pensions payments to obtain cash that they may need unexpectedly. Retirees are seldom financially secure since so many rely on a fixed level of income. Even budgets based on a relatively high fixed incomes can be upset by unforeseeable emergency expenditures.

One of the biggest advantages of direct deposit cash advances for retirees is that there are no restrictions on the way the borrowed money may be used. With cash in hand, retirees can use it to help cover the part of medical bills and prescription medications not covered by Medicare. Some may need to apply the funds to home or auto repair.

Another benefit of direct deposit cash advances for retirees is the ease of the online application process. In about 30 minutes, an individual can complete the application process. This consists of providing basic details such as your name, the cash advance amount you’re interested in obtaining, and information about your bank account and your private pension. Once the information is verified, approval can be forthcoming.

As the name implies, direct deposit cash advances are deposited directly into your bank account the next business day following loan approval. Since the funds are directly deposited into your designated checking account at your bank, the recipient is not required to devote precious time waiting in line at a bank branch to deposit a check. And because the funds are directly deposited, there is no hold period on the funds as there might be when depositing a check drawn on a different bank than that of the borrower. This means that on the day that your loan is posted to your bank account, the money is yours to spend as you need.

A repayment schedule will be created as part of the application process based on the date that you are scheduled to receive your next recurring pension payment. This is within 30 days of the date of the submission of the loan application. Remember, this is a cash advance meant to be only a short-term loan so money is to be repaid quickly. Repayment is just as easy as the loan initiation process. When your next private pension payment is deposited into your bank account, the amount of cash advanced will be automatically debited from your account to repay the loan. From there, the funds will make their way back into the account of the cash advance company and your repayment obligation will be fulfilled. Loans may usually be extended for no more than two or three pay periods based on state law and the policies of the lender, but, since the fees for such extensions would become substantial, these limits cannot be exceeded by borrowers.

As you can see, direct deposit cash advances for recipients of recurring pension payments are superior to the alternative means of obtaining short-term cash. This is a ready source of funds available in a reliable, secure, and confidential manner from any location with a personal computer that has a connection to the Internet.

Find Solutions To Your Credit Problems Here

Find Solutions To Your Credit Problems Here

It’s always a great idea to check the fine print of any contract before you take out a line of credit, but many people neglect to do this and owe a lot of money. There’s no sense in beating a dead horse here. The important thing now is to work toward getting out of debt, so let’s go over some useful information to clean up that credit score.

Generally, it is not a good idea to wipe old accounts off your credit report. The reason is if you are applying for an auto loan or a mortgage, or another type of loan, you will need to show that you have had credit in the past, so the old accounts will come in handy. About 15% of your credit score reflects the length of your credit history.

When it comes time to rebuild your credit, the first thing to do is make a plan. Your plan should contain how you plan on rebuilding credit and how you plan on using your credit in the future. Without a plan of attack concerning your credit, you run the risk of getting into financial trouble again.

There exist several non-profit agencies that can help you repair your credit. Instead of reducing the amount you owe (which gets reported negatively) you can work with these organizations who will liaise with the debt collectors to reduce the interest rate, which in effect reduces the amount owed.

To improve your credit history, ask someone you know well to make you an authorized user on their best credit card. You do not need to actually use the card, but their payment history will appear on yours and improve significantly your credit score. Make sure to return the favor later.

Although it requires a lot of time, seven years to be more precise, and a ton of patience, sometimes, simply waiting it out is your best option. Typically, after seven years, bad debt falls off of your credit report. So if you can commit yourself to no new debt for seven years, it could be smooth sailing.

If an initial dispute is denied and you disagree, submit a dispute in writing including copies of any supporting documentation. Taking the extra time to ensure your report is accurate helps your credit, and can have a significant impact on interest rates and other items driven by credit your score or information.

If bankruptcy is the only choice you have, try to file before attempting other fruitless measures. In some cases, bankruptcy is the only way that you can completely eliminate your debt, and if that is the case, there is no point in waiting around trying methods that have no results. The quicker you file, the quicker everything can be completed so your life can finally begin anew.

You must fix your credit, no matter the time or effort invested, unless you want to deal with bad credit for a long time. Take the advice given here and you will be doing the best you can to set yourself on the right path to financial freedom.

To buy or to lease?

To buy or to lease?

Buy or Lease?

It’s the classic dilemma that faces every auto-consumer out there: Pay
cash upfront or forego the ownership and pay monthly settlements instead?
Buy or lease for a new set of wheels?

As is the case with every other common dilemma, there is no slam-dunk
answer. Each option has its own benefits and drawbacks, and it all depends on a set of financial and personal considerations.

First, your finances. Affordability is clearly key, and you need to ask the question of how stable is your job and how healthy is your general
financial situation. The short-term monthly-cost of leasing is significantly lower than the monthly payments when buying: you only pay for “the portion” of the vehicle’s cost that you use up during the time you drive it.

If you have a lot of cash upfront, then you can opt to pay the down
payment, sales taxes – in cash or rolled into a loan – and the interest
rate determined by your loan company. Buying effectively gives you
ownership of the car and that feeling of “free driving” that goes on
providing transportation.

If, say, you want to get into luxury models but can’t afford the upfront
cash of purchasing the vehicle than you’re a good candidate for leasing.
Unlike buying, it gives you the option of not having to fork out the down
payment upfront, leaving you to pay a lower money factor that is generally similar to the interest rate on a financing loan. However, these benefits
have a price: terminating a lease early or defaulting on your monthly lease payments will result in stiff financial penalties and can ruin your credit.
You need to make sure you carve out the monthly lease payment in your
budget for the foreseeable future, at least for the duration of the lease.

Besides the financial aspect, making a buy or lease decision depends on
your own particular lifestyle choices and preferences. Think about what the car means to you: are you the sort of person to bond with the car or would you rather have the excitement of something new? If you want to drive a car for more than fives years, negotiate carefully and buy the car you like. If, on the other hand, you don’t like the idea of ownership and prefer to drive a new car every two to three years then you should lease. Next, factor your transportation needs: How many miles do you drive a year?

How properly do you maintain your cars? If you answer is: “I drive 40,000
miles a year and I don’t really care much about my cars as I don’t mind
dealing with repair bills”, then you’re probably better off buying. Leasing is based on the assumption of limited-mileage, usually no more than 12,000 to 15,000 miles a year, and wear-and-tear considerations. Unless you can keep within the prescribed mileage limits and keep the car in a good condition at the end of your lease, you might incur hefty end-of-lease costs.

Sani Dry Dehumidifier

Sani Dry Dehumidifier

The Sani Dry dehumidifier is made by Therma-Stor exclusively for a company called Basement Systems. Basement Systems is a company that supplies and installs dehumidifiers with their own licensed contractors. They also offer basement finishing and repair services.

The Sani Dry dehumidifier model called the XP Dehumidifier works well in a large area up to 2,500 square feet. It can remove 109 pints of water, per day, from the air of your home making your home much more comfortable to live in and reducing the amount of damage that can be caused by excess moisture.

This unit is also capable of functioning at low temperatures down to 40 degrees. What this means is, if your basement is cool the coils have an auto-defrost feature to keep the unit from freezing up and shutting itself off. It will continue to operate at these low temperature and keep your home moisture free.

The unit can either be used as a free standing unit or can be installed directly into the ductwork of your home. If you are the handy type you could probably manage the installation on your own but if not then they will install it for you.

The XP is Energy Star rated so it is energy efficient and will not increase you energy bill by any significant amount.

The convenience of the unit is also a plus. There is no bucket to empty every day, the XP drains directly to a floor drain. If there is no drain in the floor, you will need to drain the water up and out by purchasing what is called a “compensate pump” separately and installing it in the unit.

The XP has an adjustable “humidistat” as well, allowing you to set the desired relative humidity of your home anywhere from 20% to 90%. Those settings are most extreme and you most likely will set the XP unit in the range of 35% to 50% to be comfortable in your home.

If you suffer from allergies you will notice a big difference in the severity of your symptoms once the XP is installed and begins to remove the excess moisture in your home.

Once the XP is installed, it will run until it achieves the level of humidity in your home that you have set then it will maintain that level by cycling on and off. It might take 24 hours or more to reach the level you want for your home.

Once the XP is programmed by you with specific data for your home, it will always remember it. Even if there is a power outage the XP will restart automatically and remember the settings you programmed into it.

As I stated earlier, the unit can handle up to 2,500 square feet. So, if the entire square footage of your house does not exceed that number then you can install the unit directly into the ductwork of your home and dehumidify your entire house.

The Sani Dry dehumidifier is solely capable of maintaining the moisture in your home to reduce allergens and keep the excess moisture from causing structural damage.

Ways You Can Maximize Your Home Owner’s Insurance Policy (2)

Ways You Can Maximize Your Home Owner’s Insurance Policy

Homeowners insurance is an aspect of home ownership that many do not always account for in projecting their budgets. It is also an area of tremendous mystery, as it is more complex and involved than basic auto insurance. Read this article to shed some light into this area of your life.

Be sure to pay off all of your mortgage. This tends to be easier said than done, but if you pay off your debts, you could see your premiums drop. This is because the insurance company thinks that if you, the homeowner, owns the home, you will be more inclined to take better care of it.

Before you even purchase a home, make sure to ask your real estate agent questions about homeowner’s insurance cost. The price of homeowner’s insurance varies, usually depending on location. You do not want to live in an area that is going to leave you broke paying for homeowner’s insurance.

Make sure that you are aware of any changes to your policy following a life-changing event. After it happens, be sure to inform your agent. This includes marriage divorce, adult children moving out or back in, etc. The amount of insurance you will need and everything that you want covered will vary throughout the years. Make sure to keep your policies and inventory up to date.

To keep your house safe and avoid filing costly home insurance claims, make sure to clean your chimney regularly. If the chimney becomes clogged you could end up with major smoke or fire damage within your home. The cost of having it cleaned is far less than it would be to repair your home!

The amount you pay for homeowner’s insurance will be affected by where you live. If the area you live is more prone to severe weather or natural disasters, your premium will be higher. If you live close to a fire station your rates may be lower. Where you live can significantly affect your insurance rates.

You should always ask how much it would cost to increase your coverage. Home owner’s insurance factors in the chance of many small tings going wrong in addition to catastrophic events, but those large events are unlikely. Given that fact, it may only cost you $20 or $25 to increase your coverage from $350,000 to $500,000 to insure your possessions as well as your house.

Never over-claim on your home owner’s insurance! Pretending you owned a 150 inch television just to get more money will bite you in the end. The more you claim, the higher your insurance premiums will end up being after your claim, and that raise in premium will last for years!

Earlier in this article, the complexity of homeowners insurance was alluded to. Now that you have read this piece, you should be more familiar with what homeowners insurance covers and how you should account for it in your life. Keep these tips in mind in the coming days, and you can make this a very successful area for yourself.

Walking Talking Advertisements

Walking Talking Advertisements

So you’ve made a sale. Great!
Now what? You’re not just going to sell your new customer a product and let them walk away, are you?
Not when you’re marketing on tight budget! You now have to use the customer in front of you to build your business, and you do that with a successful referral program.
Referrals work. Word of mouth advertising is still the most powerful form of advertising available, and it’s getting ever MORE powerful in 2004. The largest companies in this country have cut their advertising budgets over the last 10 years and directed that money towards generating positive PR and good word of mouth (a.k.a. “buzz”) for their products. (Most marketing people who are paid to buy and sell advertising would rather you didn’t know that, but it’s a verifiable fact).
So how do you build a successful word of mouth program for your business?
Just ask.
Offer your customers a discount on their next purchase if they refer a new customer to you. A lot of companies do this already, but amazingly, not many of them publicize it. If they remember, they mention it to you on your way out the door. Well I say you make damn sure your customer knows before they leave your store or your website that you want their business, and you want them to talk about your product or service to their friends as well.
Think of your local mechanic. They might have mentioned to you at some point that if you refer a friend, they’ll give a small discount next time around. But they could do much better than that, couldn’t they?
If I owned a garage (and believe me I never will because I can barely hold a wrench let alone use one), I’d make sure that after every transaction I told my customers that if they refer a client to me, and that client brings their car in for any kind of repair at all, I’d give them a free lube oil and filter on their next visit. That’s a retail value of about $20. It would cost me about $10. If you were in the auto repair business, wouldn’t you buy a new customer for $10!?! The same logic applies to online sales or any other retail model you can think of.
Just give your customer a reason to make the referral. Deliver good service, charge a fair price, and make it worth their while to send a friend your way. (By the way, the referral program also helps to bring the original customer back in to get their free oil change, so it’s really like getting 2 follow up visits from just one referral.)
What about the plumbing business? Here’s a quiz for you. Name 2 plumbers in your area.
I’ll wait.
Couldn’t do it, could you? Most plumbers are independent businessmen and women. They don’t have big advertising budgets, and they only service a local area. So you can imagine that a plumber, who sees 4 or 5 or maybe 6 clients a day would be well served by offering a referral program. Turn those 6 clients into 12 by having them each refer a friend who has a plumbing problem.
Now you’re saying that this is not possible. You only call a plumber when you need one, so what good is a 10% discount off your next plumbing job? It’s not like the mechanic who does regular maintenance on your car. You might use a plumber once, and then never again. How would a plumber come up with a referral program?
I’m no plumber, but here’s my idea. You refer any client to me who has a job of $100 or more, and I’ll install a brand new kitchen faucet for you at no charge. The faucet won’t cost a plumber much, because he’s got the inside track on deals in the industry. So a nice $80 faucet at the store probably costs him $40. And he can put it in about 15 minutes or less. Now who wouldn’t want a nice new kitchen faucet, installed free! All they have to do is mention you to their friends. If one of them calls, you make $100 less $40 for the faucet, and gain another client for the future. Do that for a few years and watch your business grow exponentially.
In small business you can’t outspend your competition but you can outsell them by employing your own customers as your sales force using a good word of mouth referral program. With almost no upfront cost and a huge potential upside, it’s well worth the time invested in creating a good referral program for your business.
